The Room
Walls of rammed earth. Floors of local limestone. A bathroom carved into the rock face. The Stone Suite exists at the intersection of the elemental and the refined.
The Stone Suite was the first room we finished and the one that set the tone for everything that followed. The rammed earth walls were built by a craftsman from the Alentejo village of Monsaraz, using soil drawn from the estate itself. The floor is a single continuous pour of local limestone, polished to a satin finish. The bathroom is cut into the hillside — the back wall is raw rock, cool to the touch in summer. A freestanding stone bath sits at its centre. Outside, a private terrace faces the plain.
