Named for the ancient cork oaks that shade its windows each morning. A queen bed dressed in stonewashed linen faces east. Light enters slowly. There is a reading chair, a cast iron bath, a view of the plain that stretches without interruption to the horizon. Nothing more. Nothing less.

We designed The Cork Room around the question: what is the least a room needs to feel complete? The answer, it turns out, is very little. The flooring is reclaimed cork — warm underfoot, silent. The walls are bare lime plaster. The bath is cast iron, deep enough to disappear into. The single east-facing window frames a view that changes by the hour — pale gold at dawn, chalk-white by noon, rose and amber as evening arrives.
